About Me

Cynthia

I am a film fan. Too many movies, too little time…. Favorites include Casablanca, To Kill a Mockingbird, Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Metropolis, Dracula (1931) Frankenstein (1931), A Clockwork Orange, North by Northwest, Dr Strangelove, Young Frankenstein, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Arsenic and Old Lace, Blue Velvet, Double Indemnity, Grand Hotel, Gaslight, The Grapes of Wrath, It Happened One Night, M, Mister Roberts, My Man Godfrey, The Red Shoes, Singin’ in the Rain, Some Like it Hot, Strangers on a Train, The Third Man, and The Wizard of Oz. I love the great old Universal Monster movies.

I am mainly a classic movie fan, 1930’s and 1940’s, but I love learning about great movies I’ve missed. There is always more to learn, and I want to learn it all! I love classic, silent, cult, foreign, film noir, screwball comedy, independent, quirky, documentary, anything by Alfred Hitchcock, Terry Gilliam, Coen Brothers, Mel Brooks, Monty Python, etc. I love Warner Bros movies from the studio system days, especially those made during World War II. My number one favorite film is Casablanca 1942.

I am a Christian lady who loves animals way too much to eat them, eat anything that came out of them, or wear them. I have been a vegetarian practically all my adult life and a vegan since December 30, 2012. (Disclaimer: In real life, I wouldn’t walk up to strangers and tell them stuff. But, in my blog, I am going express my whacked out opinions because all somebody has to do is click the little “X” and go about their day..)

I love pets and have had them my whole life. Sadly, I have outlived pets over the years, but there are always new pets that need homes. I am a soft touch for pets that have behavior problems, are old, are handicapped, etc. I have lots of love and patience to give to pets who need me.

My pets are a big part of my life. I had two wonderful dogs named Mister Belty and Little Miss Nicki. They had good long lives, and I miss them very much. Right now, I have my pet birds and goldfish in my little backyard pond.

Rufus is my adopted African Grey parrot. He’s a naughty boy. Rufus was the child of divorce. Neither spouse wanted him so they sold him to a pet shop. He has lived with me since 2000 and is finally starting to fall in love with me.

Penny is my girl cockatiel. I adopted her as an adult. She is very sweet to me. She was a really homely girl, her feathers were all messed up and I felt sorry for her. She was very wild, and it took a long time to tame her. She has lived with me since 2000. In around 2008 she developed a cancerous tumor on her little birdie shoulder. She is a cancer survivor! Not bad for an old girl bird!

Jonah is my boy cockatiel. He’s been Penny’s roommate since 2001 years, but they recently fell in love

My parakeet, Beady Boy, has lived with me since before he was hatched around 2001 His parents were two parakeets that I adopted who fell in love. His father, Davy, belonged to a service member who was going overseas, and his mother, Joy, was injured and had only one eye. I saw the mother at a scratch and dent sale at a pet shop. I am not making that up! Beady Boy is the cutest parakeet in the history of parakeets.

Candy is a peach-faced lovebird. Candy is a naughty little bird and is very entertaining.

In addition to animals, I love old movies, especially Warner Bros 1930’s and 1940’s, and quirky indie films. I love Turner Classic Movies.

Other interests:

  • Bird watching
  • Old movies
  • Crocheting
  • Jesus

That’s all the boring stuff I can think of right now.
